The Oisans region is home to a huge variety of interesting wildlife, including golden eagles, griffon vultures, marmots, chamois and ibex as well as an enormous number of flowers and plants, many of which have important medicinal properties. Join us on Thursday afternoons as we discover the natural world around the resort, and learn all about the fascinating wildlife that live in this region.

Our nature walks are suitable for all, including families with young children. Expect to walk about 5-8 km with around 200-300m of elevation. We leave directly from the resort at 1pm every Thursday and the walks last approximately 3 hours.

Day Hike
Lac and Col de la Muzelle
Lac and Col de la Muzelle

Our day hikes take place every Friday. These are more challenging than our nature walks and take us further into the wilderness. There are numerous exciting day hikes in the area, including walks to St Christophe, Le Sapey, Lac Lauvitel and Lac Muzelle. Many of these can be reached directly from Les Deux Alpes. In some cases, we will take the Venosc gondola (6€ return).

These walks require a moderate level of fitness. They will mostly be on good mountain paths, but there will some rocky ground and some exposed sections. We will be covering 15-18km with 800-1200m of elevation. All walks will start at 9am and will last 6-8 hours. Depending on the walk, lunch will either be a picnic or in a small mountain restaurant. We will advise you on the full details before the walk.

Lac de Plan Vianney
Lac de Plan Vianney

Our day hikes are aimed at regular hill-walkers with a reasonable level of fitness. Children capable of walking the distance are welcome.

How long are the walks? The nature walk will cover about 3-5km and 200-300 m of elevation. These last about 3 hours and are all on easy mountain paths. The day hikes will last about 6-8 hours. They will cover 15-18km and 800-1200m of elevation. Mountain paths in the area are generally good, however there may be some more technical sections and some sections with a degree of exposure.

What do I need to bring? Footwear is extremely important, please make sure to wear good walking boots. You should bring a waterproof and extra layers – the weather can change rapidly in the mountains. A sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are also recommended. It is important to bring enough water for the hike, as water sources may be scarce along the routes. We recommend bringing a minimum of 1.5L per person. If you walk with walking poles, it is a good idea to bring them on the hike. Depending on the hike, we may stop for a picnic. We will advise you before the walk as to whether you need to bring a packed lunch.

Are there any extra expenses? Lunch will be at the client’s own expense, either at a mountain restaurant or a packed lunch. In addition, we may use the Venosc gondola (6€ return).
